We often get asked if it’s possible to resurface laminate benchtops. The good news is that the answer is a resounding yes! In fact, most types of benchtops, including tile, wood and stone can be transformed with Granite Transformations engineered stone overlay.
If you’re thinking of resurfacing laminate benchtops in your home, the surface should be nice and flat and in decent nick.
The main issue we come across that may make resurfacing your laminate benchtops a little more tricky is if water has damaged the chipboard underneath the laminate causing it to warp or swell.

Daily Cleaning
Simply wipe down benchtops with a damp soft cloth or sponge and a bit of mild detergent. You can also use any multipurpose cleaning spray that doesn’t contain bleach.
Dealing with Stains
Granite Transformations is one of the most stain resistant surfaces on the market. However, it’s still best to avoid leaving spills on the stone for long periods of time. If you do get a little staining from time time a magic eraser sponge works great and is available at any supermarket these days. Alternatively, you can use a little diluted bleach and water. Leave for about 5 minutes and wipe off.
Restoring Shine
Unlike porous natural stone like marble which may require re-sealing every 3-6 months, a Granite Transformations benchtop surface is designed to keep looking its best with very little effort on your behalf. We would recommend restoring the polished shine of the surface after its been 10 years or more with a little ‘Tenax Ager’ – a wet look colour enhancer.
